Kothagiri

Dolphine Nose

     This view point is located about 12 km from Coonoor near Tiger hills.  You can get a beautiful view of the Catherine falls from here.  Ideal to visit in the morning.

Elk Falls

     It is 7 km from Kothagiri and situated below Uyilatti village.  The road passes through serenely laid out Badaga habitations. Enroute at the kannarimukku village is found the first European house in the Nilgiris built by Collector Sullivan in the year 1819.  The two story house is now ruined.  Though the water is full only in the wet months, the site is always worth a visit.  It commands towards the north, an exquisite view of the valley of Kookal, one known for its famous oranges.

St. Catherine Falls

     There are two falls and is about 5 km from Kothagiri on the way to mettupalayam Road.   From Dolphin’s Nose, Coonoor, one can have a magnificent view of St. Catherine waterfalls which is about 250 feet high. To reach the top of the hills, tourists should take a diversion at Araveni on the Kotagiri-Mettupalayam road.

Kodanadu Viewpoint

     It is about 16 km on the eastern edges of the Nilgiris.  The Kodanad Tea factory is situated here.   A beautiful view of the river major dividing the Nilgiri’s and Erode District.  And also can see Tamilnadu & Karnataka Borders.  This is best view point on the Blue Mountains and provides Good view on a bright sunny day.  A watch-tower is there to view the panoramic view of Rangasamy peak and pillar.  Bus services are available for Kotagiri.

Bikkapathi Reserve

     Situated beyond Kookalthorai, about 10 km from Kothagiri.  This very exciting forest reserve under the jurisdiction of the Forest Range Officer of kattabettu at Kothagiri.

Longwood shoal

     It is source of pure sparkling water for the people living in Kothagiri town.  The Microclimatic condition here contributes to making Kothagiri one of the ideal climatic locations in the world.
